Ciabatta – Porous and delicious

First of all: In Italy, Ciabatta is one of the absolute classics. It comes along in a rustic style with its unique crispy crust, coarse crumb texture and flour dust on its back. By the way, Ciabatta translates as “slipper", coming from its shape which is reminiscent of a slipper.

Did you know..: ...that the Ciabatta turned 40 last year? Arnaldo Cavallari is said to have invented it – inspired by the French baguette – in a Veneto bakery in 1982.

Good to know: Don’t be surprised about the softness of the dough – it is supposed to be like that and it is important in order to achieve the special character of the piece of baked goods!

Keen to experiment: You can make great pizza from Ciabatta dough! Simply shape into round or square shapes and top to your liking. Maybe a special snack for your counter?
