Panettone – “Christmas is on its way” "

First of all: Panettone is the Italian piece of Christmas baked goods par excellence. Traditionally, it is baked in the famous brown paper sleeve, which is not only handy but also gives the fruity cake its dome shape.

Did you know... that Panettone is hung upside down to cool after baking because otherwise it would simply collapse due to all its airy fluffiness? That’s what it looks like:

This is how it’s done: Panettone is usually served in even pieces, the so-called sectors, and served with typical Italian winter-hot sweet drinks. Our tip: it goes quite well with hot wine punch!

Keen to experiment: Panettone is a real all-rounder! In addition to the classic fruit filling, it can be varied in many ways. In winter, a chocolate filling can be a good idea, in summer a cherry and pistachio mix might be particularly appealing. For autumn, we recommend plum and cinnamon. So Panettone is not just for Christmas!

MONDO LIEVITO MADRE inside: In Panettone, the contained Lievito Madre makes itself felt in the typical fine stringiness and elasticity that we know from Italian-style confectionery baked goods. Moreover, it shapes the interplay of a tenderly melting crumb and unique fermentation flavours. Ready for Christmas!
